Administrative processes in the Import department

20 April 2020

At Veiling Rhein-Maas, the Import department ensures that flowers and plants arriving from countries such as Israel, Ethiopia, Kenya, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Italy and other countries can be auctioned successfully. The Import department's work includes e.g. unpacking and preparing products, an initial check of quantity as well as the administration of imported goods. Marianne Hanßen is responsible for most of the administrative tasks in the department.

Packing lists
`Unfortunately, we are facing more and more problems with the packing lists´, says Marianne, `which in the end will cost us a lot of time to sort out and repair´. To avoid additional costs for the supplier (‘penalties’), the following rules must be obliged by the growers:

  • Always fill in a shipment number in order to ensure an error-free billing process.
  • Always enter all obligatory product and sorting codes in the packing list.
  • Never change the structure of the packing lists regarding rows and columns, because those can’t be handled automatically anymore.
  • Always send the packing lists to import@spam-protectveilingrheinmaas.de before 12:00 pm, at least one day before the products arrive here in Straelen-Herongen. If the supply is planned for Monday, the packing should be in on the preceding Friday before 12:00 pm.

If all suppliers follow the rules, the Import department of Veiling Rhein-Maas will be able to guarantee a proper preparation of all goods of our growers from abroad. Please take into consideration that goods which are not properly supplied, can be either charged with extra handling fees and/of placed behind in the order of preparation.

If you have any questions concerning mentioned above rules, please get in touch with Angela Neubauer, Team Manager Import Handling, or your contact person at the Assortment and Import Management.
