Developments at cut flowers and potted plants
The market situation for cut flowers was satisfactory in the second quarter and volumes were in line with the previous year's level. For potted plants, especially for the seasonal range of bedding and balcony plants, perennials and nursery stock, the situation remains tight. Due to the market situation at the end of May, the measure was taken that outdoor potted plants may only be delivered in A1 quality for the time being in order to avoid an oversupply. On the other hand, the sales of indoor products remained stable.
Successful roll-out of the new customer portal
"We are pleased to announce that our new customer portal was successfully activated at the end of June. Our customers have access to the Clock pre sales as well as to the Webshop and now only have to log in once. In addition, the transaction overview can be viewed there. Even after the successful roll-out, the functions are constantly being optimised so that we can offer our customers a faster and more targeted way of working," say Günther Esser and Cees Hoekstra. "We would like to express a big thank you to all those involved in the development of the customer portal and to customers who have tested the portal in the pilot phase. This important project contributes to the digital evolution of the marketplace."
Fairtrade certification of Veiling Rhein-Maas
At the beginning of June, Veiling Rhein-Maas was officially Fairtrade certified by the certification company Flocert. This certification confirms that Veiling Rhein-Maas meets the Fairtrade standards for traders and for flowers and plants. This means that Veiling Rhein-Maas is momentarily the only flowers and plants auction that offers Fairtrade products in specialised trade quality. At the current time, roses that are produced in compliance with the Fairtrade criteria are offered at the marketplace in Straelen-Herongen.
Update `Leitbild´
"The `Leitbild´ of Veiling Rhein-Maas shows what is important for good cooperation at our auction. The already existing core values have been supplemented with other relevant topics. In June, we presented the updated `Leitbild´ to our employees within a digital event together with a matching personal surprise," the two Managing Directors explain. "Now we are happy to show the updated `Leitbild´ also to our external partners." You can watch the video here.
Personal contact at trade fairs
From 10 to 12 May 2022 Veiling Rhein-Maas took part in the HortiContact in Gorinchem (NL), which is the largest Dutch trade fair for greenhouse cultivation. Fortunately, the interest was very high, so that our employees from the Assortment and Import Management were able to have many personal conversations with visitors. In June, Veiling Rhein-Maas was also present at the IPM Summer Edition in Essen (DE) together with Landgard. The next fair will take place in August – we are looking forward to meet potential customers and suppliers at the Florall in Waregem (BE).
