Good Easter business at Veiling Rhein-Maas

4 April 2024

Consistently high customer demand and the resulting higher prices compared to the previous year for both cut flowers and potted plants ensured a positive marketing situation at Veiling Rhein-Maas throughout March, which continued in the week leading up to Easter. Customer participation was up on the previous year both at the auction and in direct sales through the Clock Service, as well as in the digital sales channels of clock pre sales, remote buying and on the Webshop.

Products in demand

In the cut flower sector, Veiling Rhein-Maas saw growth in the volumes of roses, chrysanthemums and gerberas sold over Easter 2024. Due to poor bulb production in 2023, however, tulips and daffodils were only available in smaller quantities. Shades of yellow, a traditional Easter colour, were in demand, as were pre-made arrangements. Sales of all outdoor products were also good during Easter week due to the favourable weather conditions. Whether it was perennials, nursery articles, bedding plants or patio plants, all products were in high demand. This was probably due to the fact that primroses, violas and bellis were almost already sold out except for remaining quantities.

Strongest sales times

Customer participation was high across all distribution channels throughout the entire Easter week, and the special auction day on Good Friday also proved to be very popular. The days with the highest turnover were the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Easter. Sales to Veiling Rhein-Maas customers were good in the run-up to the holidays, which meant that their overall assessment of the Easter business was also positive.
