Good second quarter 2021 at Veiling Rhein-Maas

16 July 2021

Veiling Rhein-Maas looks back on a satisfactory second quarter of 2021. Overall, a product turnover of € 266 million was achieved in the first half of 2021, a significant increase compared to the previous year. Both the auction clock, including Clock pre sales and Remote Buying, as well as the Webshop and the Clock Service achieved positive results.

Digital market channels continue to grow
The auction room remains the heart of the auction. A well-balanced range of cut flowers and potted plants, combined with a higher customer presence than in the same period last year due to continued high demand, resulted in good overall price levels at the auction clock. At the same time, the digital market channels of the marketplace are also developing positively. The share of Remote Buying in the total auction sales continues to increase and almost € 15 million were achieved at Clock pre sales in the second quarter of 2021. The Webshop of Veiling Rhein-Maas also continues to be increasingly used by customers and suppliers and is constantly being optimised. In addition to the digital market channels, the Clock Service also achieved a clear increase in product turnover.

Popular products
The sale of indoor products, especially flowering houseplants, phalaenopsis and arrangements, went well. As a result of the optimal weather conditions, also the sales of all outdoor products went exceptionally good. All products, from perennials, nursery stock and bedding plants to patio plants, were in consistently strong demand. Veiling Rhein-Maas also recorded significant sales growth in the cut flower segment due to constantly high demand and simultaneously high prices. All spring products sold very well across all market channels.

Personal contact at trade fairs and events
All employees of Veiling Rhein-Maas are looking forward to meet the partners of the marketplace as well as potential customers and suppliers in person again at upcoming trade fairs and events. The first opportunity to do so will probably be on 24 August 2021 at the Florall in Waregem (BE), where Veiling Rhein-Maas will present with a fair stand.
