In March in the spotlight: Dendrobium and tulip

12 February 2020

Place the flowers and plants of the month of March in the spotlight and inspire your customers. Below you will find information about the `Houseplant of the month´ and the tulip, which is in the focus of the flower agenda in March. On the website of the Flower Council of Holland you will find promotional material and other information about future activities and campaigns.

Houseplant of the month
In March the `Houseplant of the month´ is the Dendrobium, a popular orchid that features a sturdy stem with scales and leaves from which emerges a candle of idiosyncratic flowers. Around 1,200 Dendrobium species grow in the wild across a fairly large territory which is shaped like an enormous triangle, from the Himalayas and southern Japan to Australia and New Zealand.

Flower Agenda
The `Flower Agenda´ focusses on the tulip in March - with it, we celebrate the beginning of spring. Breeding has now created fifteen groups of tulips, classified by leaf and flower shape, natural flowering period and/or height. Tulips come in almost all colours of the spectrum, including flowers edged with fringes, green splashes in the flower and double flowers that could almost pass for peonies.
