In early July, Veiling Rhein-Maas and Landgard will lay the foundations for further growth with the commissioning of their new Logistic Means Centre (LMC) in building T on the company site in Straelen-Herongen. “This new LMC here in Hall T is the first important step in our strategic project 'Standort 2025' that will help us to position our marketplace well for the future“, explained Günther Esser and Cees Hoekstra, Managing Directors of Veiling Rhein-Maas, in the forefront of the new logistics site’s opening. For the name of the new logistics site, the companies wanted to make a connection to the term used for their other auction and logistics centres, ‘Logistieke Middelen Centrum (LMC)’.

From 3 July 2023, Veiling Rhein-Maas and Landgard Obst & Gemüse will jointly handle the receipt and dispatch of carriers and packaging of all kinds for flowers and plants along with fruit and vegetables in the new LMC, which contains around 3,800 square metres of hall space and 1,500 square metres of outdoor storage space. From now on, a total of 15 loading ramps will be available for flowers and plants in Hall T. This is where CC containers will be received and dispatched once the new centre opens. ”This will enable us to further improve our services for suppliers and customers and to optimally exploit synergies - from opening hours, to staff deployment, to the pool of different carriers“, says the Veiling Rhein-Maas management team. Improved traffic routing will also help to increase safety on the site.

Veiling Rhein-Maas handles around 1.3 million CC containers and about 13 million CC boards per year. Until now, Veiling Rhein-Maas’ CC depot was located directly at the entrance to the company site in Hall R, however, this location proved to be unsuitable, both in terms of traffic and internal logistics processes. Veiling Rhein-Maas and Landgard considered various alternatives and finally agreed to use the available space belonging to Landgard Obst & Gemüse. The space vacated by the previous CC-Depot in Hall R will be rented out in the future; the relevant contracts have already been signed. Thanks to this change, Veiling Rhein-Maas is now able to respond to the wishes of many customers and suppliers for additional rental space.

The opening of the LMC is the first step in the multi-year ’Standort 2025’ project. Together with Landgard and other local companies, Veiling Rhein-Maas is enabling future growth on the site in Straelen-Herongen. The current infrastructure limits efficient processes and the space capacities at the site are almost exhausted. The aim of ‘Standort 2025’ is to unite the interests of everyone on the site by means of a site-wide space use concept, to make optimal use of existing capacities and to see where spaces can be expanded if necessary.
