Update: Modernisation of the auction clock front

23 July 2020

The whole front of the auction clock will be equipped with the latest LED technology. Among other things, this allows a more flexible layout of the clock front, a better presentation of product photos as well as displaying additional information such as certificates of the suppliers. The auction can also be conducted even more energy efficient.

First conversion phases completed
In week 29, the first two conversion phases have already been successfully completed. All four modernised auction clocks have been in operation since Wednesday, 15 July 2020. The conversion of the other four auction clocks will start on Monday, 3 August 2020. First, the auction clocks 3 and 4 will be converted, followed by the auction clocks 5 and 6. Until the expected completion in early September, only six clocks at a time will be available for auctioning.

Heart of the auction
"The physical clock remains the heart of the auction. The investment is based on the conviction that our auction clocks will continue to run for years to come. It is very important for our customers to see and feel the products that they are looking for. We expect that customers will be purchasing via our digital channels on two to three days, with the rest of the days spent purchasing on site in Straelen-Herongen. The system of the auction process has not been changed, only the visual display of the auction clocks on the LED walls has been slightly adapted", explain Günther Esser and Cees Hoekstra, Managing Directors of Veiling Rhein-Maas.
