Special features of Curcuma
Many people think that the coloured bracts are the flower, but the actual flowers grow on the side of the bracts. The flowering period is 21 days and a new flower blooms every day. Curcuma is an exclusive flower that is perfectly suited for creating a particularly eye-catching bouquet or arrangement.
Exclusive varieties
Customers, especially florists, who are looking for unusual flowers will find what they are looking for at Villa Curcuma or Villa Gerbera. In addition to the exotic Cut Curcuma, more than 40 varieties of Gerbera are cultivated. Among them are very special varieties such as ‘Spider’ Gerbera or spherical Gerbera. "Our Gerberas are available in Straelen-Herongen since March 2021. For us as suppliers, it is very advantageous that Veiling Rhein-Maas is very close to the end customer," explains Mike Zuidgeest.
Sustainable cultivation
The energy from the Curcuma greenhouses is used to heat the greenhouses with Gerbera. This makes the use of energy very efficient and thus sustainable. The pest control is also 95% organic, as mainly beneficial insects are used. "The interest in flowers is constantly increasing, especially in natural products as getting ‘back to nature’ is very trendy at the moment. What goes better with that than a beautiful bouquet of flowers," André Zuidgeest sums up.
