Satisfactory Valentine's Day 2023 at Veiling Rhein-Maas

14 February 2023

Veiling Rhein-Maas can look back on a good Valentine's Day 2023 overall, despite challenging circumstances - cost increases, the energy crisis and the Ukraine war. Total sales at the auction clock were at the previous year's level with a larger total volume in the cut flower division and slightly lower price levels than in 2022. Sales on all auction days before Valentine's Day with the focus on cut flowers were favourably consistent. In addition to the auction clock, the digital shopping channels continued to be very popular. There was a high level of customer traffic in the on-site auction hall, as well as in the remote purchase and the clock pre-sales.

Cut flowers and pot plants in shades of red and pink
In the cut flower segment, roses, tulips, gerberas/germinis and bouquets were particularly popular products in the week before Valentine's Day. The price level for cut flowers was at a constant, stable good level. Marketplace customers reported that their sales to end customers were also satisfactory. In the potted plants division, planted bowls and arrangements were in high demand among customers. Here, the price level and quantity delivered were comparable to the previous year.

Overall, more products in the red and pink colour spectrum were purchased for Valentine's Day. By far the strongest sales day before Valentine's Day this year was Monday, 13 February 2023, for both potted plants and cut flowers.
