Current information about purchasing and selling at Veiling Rhein-Maas

22 April 2020

The Corona crisis affects us all and challenges us daily. Veiling Rhein-Maas does everything possible to maintain proper business operations under the given circumstances. In this context, we would like to thank our customers and suppliers once again for their discipline, patience and understanding.

No auction on Labour Day
There will be an auction at Veiling Rhein-Maas on Dutch King’s Day (27 April). No auction will be held in Straelen-Herongen on Labour Day (1 May). Please click here for the adjusted supply and opening hours at Veiling Rhein-Maas.

Seat reservation and use of Remote Buying
After consultation with the customer representation of Veiling Rhein-Maas, it was decided to offer selected customers the possibility of reserving seats (one seat per bench) from Monday 27 April 2020. The concerned customers have already been informed of this possibility by our Relation Management.
About 20% of the seats will be reserved in advance, the selection was made by us according to various criteria.
This reservation must be made by 12:00 am on the day before the auction and will be cancelled at 06:10 am on the following day (auction day) if not used. Reservations can only be made for one day in advance, reservations for Mondays can be made until 12:00 am on Fridays.

The following rules apply to reserved seats:

  • Only one buyer per customer number is permitted to claim a reserved seat.
  • Family members or people who arrive/work together can share a bench again if both persons wear a facial mask covering mouth and nose in the auction room the whole time.
  • Customers are not allowed to bring their ‘own’ customers into the auction room. We can only allow access for cardholders.

We are sure that we have taken a further (small) step towards ‘normality’ with the above procedure for seat reservation.

We recommend again to use primarily Remote Buying to purchase your products.
Veiling Rhein-Maas has planned an online training on how to use Remote Buying in calendar week 18. The training will be held via the app ‘Zoom’ and is especially for customers that are not yet using Remote Buying or who need help with the operation. Further information will soon follow.
Please continue to make use of Clock pre sales and the Webshop. If you do not have access to Remote Buying yet speak to your contact person at Relation Management!

Opening of shops, florists and garden centres in Germany
On 15 April 2020, the Prime Ministers of the Federal States and the German Chancellor agreed on a relaxation of the restrictions to contain the Coronavirus. Shops with a sales area of up to 800 m² are allowed to reopen at the latest on Monday, 27 April 2020, if they comply to the respective safety regulations (which vary from state to state).
As Bavaria has also relaxed the regulations now, flowers and plants may be sold again in all federal states.

Facial masks mandatory in North Rhine-Westphalia
The Federal Government urgently recommends wearing a facial mask in shops or on public transport. Therefore, similar to the other German states, facial masks will be mandatory in North Rhine-Westphalia from 27 April 2020. Veiling Rhein-Maas is following the recommendation of the federal government and has taken protective measures in this regard:

  • Mandatory facial masks for the employees of the Service and Import Center and other parts of logistics
  • Provision of facial masks for the entire auction staff
  • Online courses for all employees regarding hygiene and protective measures

We wish you all the best and stay healthy.
