Positive Valentine's Day, Women's Day and Easter
In the first seven weeks of the first quarter of 2021, the sale of particular potted plants such as bulb plants and primroses was subdued, as many customers of the marketplace were not allowed to open during the Corona pandemic. Furthermore, the availability of cut flowers was lower, which was also caused by limited transport capacities for imported products. Only with the reopening of stores in several federal states around Valentine's Day and the resulting higher demand and good prices, the foundation for the overall positive first quarter of 2021 at Veiling Rhein-Maas was laid. In addition, purchases for International Women's Day on 8 March 2021 were pleasingly good across all market channels. There was especially strong demand for chrysanthemums via the Clock Service.
Veiling Rhein-Maas subsequently started the second quarter of 2021 with a satisfactory Easter business and realised a better Easter week in terms of turnover than in the previous year. A well-balanced offer of cut flowers and potted plants combined with good customer frequency and demand led to an overall high price level at the auction.
