Supplier in the spotlight: ‘Kwekerij Waalzicht’

16 April 2018

Four times a year, Veiling Rhein-Maas puts the spotlight on a regional supplier of the auction. In our latest ‘Suppliers in the spotlight’-video, this time even with an English subtitle, we introduce you to the ‘Kwekerij Waalzicht’.
‘We produce 20 varieties of Lisianthus in our nursery in the Bommelerwaard Region in the Netherlands. We only deliver our best qualities to Veiling Rhein-Maas, because that is what the German Market demands’, explains Jan van Wijk, who heads the company.

Innovation and ‘Premium Collection’

The nursery produces 40 million Lisianthus stems on 8,5 hectares of cultivating area per year. The Rosita is available in five colours, but most important is the white variant (Rosita White). The ‘Premium Collection’ of the ‘Kwekerij Waalzicht’ is recognisable by its outstanding quality and amount of blossoms.
Innovation is a major fact to success for the nursery. Hence, the lighting in the greenhouses has been optimised, which ensures a long durability of the produced Lisianthus. Furthermore, the company has invested into two modern harvesting systems and is also using a modern planting machine.
For Jan van Wijk the auction is still the most important sales channel. Therefore, the company delivers its products on five days per week to the auction clock in Straelen-Herongen. In addition, a certain amount of the produced Lisianthus is sold via Clock Service (Direct Sales) and via the digital sales channel Clock pre sales. The amount that the company sells via Clock pre sales is constantly increasing.

First edition of customer magazine 2018

‘Kwekerij Waalzicht’ is also present in the first edition 2018 of the bilingual customer magazine ‘Rhein-Maas Temperamente’. The newest edition of the magazine has been published in the middle of April, shortly before the opening of the trend exhibition at Veiling Rhein-Maas: ‘Rhein-Maas Next: Muttertag’ (Mother’s Day). The ‘Rhein-Maas Temperamente’ also puts a spotlight on two customers of the auction – Anita Blumen und Floristik & Ambiente Meyer – and comes with several inspiring ideas for the upcoming period, in particular for Mother’s Day!
